It’s been a very busy first quarter of the year for Static Studio, and we’ve been barely able to keep you all updated, but I couldn’t be more excited to show you what we built for you!
Command Center
This is an entirely new, minimalist UI approach we rolled out across all sites – Static Studio is meant to be zero-config, highly automated, and done for you – the old UI did not reflect that, but things have changed for the better now.
The new command center combines all the features you will use on a day-to-day basis – push your static site (full push, changes only, single push), and it updates in real-time – start an export, and you will see the progress live, and also have a visual indicator showing that – no more guessing if a push is running or not.
It also gives you quick access to your form submissions – simply switch to the Submissions tab and go through all the new submissions:
You can still access the original settings either from the command bar or by navigating to Tools -> Simply Static Studio – just in case you want to dig into the settings – maximum flexibility if you need it, minimalistic by default.
WebP & Optimization
This is a big one – we are now enabling Bunny Optimizer for every site deployed on Simply Static Studio.
Bunny Optimizer is an optimization tool that runs entirely on the edge and won’t influence your push times – same speed as before, but way better results out of the box:
- Automatic WebP conversion for all your images (including fallbacks for older browsers)
- Automatic Image Transformation for better performance across different devices (responsive images)
- Automatic HTML, CSS, and JS minification with built-in auto-fix (to automatically catch page issues during rendering)
Did I mention it’s free for all sites?
Usually, you have to pay $9.5/month/site for this, and we just include it now for free – sounds crazy, but it’s true.
Push Migration
We are investing a lot of time improving our onboarding and first-user experience – our migration plugin got another huge update, including a push feature that allows you to migrate your existing WordPress website to Studio without even leaving your dashboard:
Log in with your Static Studio account, run the backup, and click Push to Studio – we handle the rest for you.
More power to you
We are receiving tons of feedback for Static Studio, and I love that!
The moment you hit us with a feature request, you can expect it to be implemented in the same month – that’s something that makes me incredibly proud as a founder.
Here is what’s new based on your feature requests:
Environments
You can now create, manage, and use environments inside Static Studio. This allows you to define different environments to test your static site before pushing it to the production site:
- Want to test a new theme? Go for it.
- A new plugin, and you are not sure it works statically? Test it.
- Complex publishing workflows with a review test? Sure, do it.
You can enable the feature from within the Site Details – switch to the Environments tab, activate it, and create your first environment:
Obviously, this is also natively supported by the new command center:
Redeploy Sites
By popular demand, you can now overwrite existing sites using a backup created with our migration plugin:
Simply open the Site Details in the Import Site window and select the site you want to overwrite.
Looking ahead
Our roadmap is already packed with new and exciting features to make Static WordPress the new default for most WordPress websites.
One area we’ve been focusing on lately is agency workflows – this will also improve the experience for everyone managing more than one site:
- Introducing our partner program
- whitelabel mode
- ownership transfer (already implemented)
- Tagging system and customizable table layout (enable/disable columns)
- Google Pagespeed scores directly inside the dashboard
- Full API coverage for the platform
