Our Story
From an abandoned plugin to over 50,000 users, a team of four people and
hundreds of updates over the last four years.
The Story of Simply Static
Four years ago, I used the plugin to ensure the website of one of my customers would be able to handle the traffic of a TV commercial (back then, I was still working part-time as a freelancer).
The plugin was unmaintained then, and so was the entire concept of Static WordPress – most competitors (mostly cloud solutions) are barely active anymore, and all the alternative plugins were also abandoned.
After the successful campaign of my customer, I reached out to the initial developer and asked him to take over the plugin and start maintaining it again. He agreed, and all the code was transferred to my account, and our journey began.
Fast-forward four years, and Simply Static powers over 50,000 websites, from tiny blogs to huge enterprise websites. It has evolved to be the de-facto standard for Static WordPress.
Our team comprises four lovely people who handle development, support, and content marketing. We have attended multiple WordCamps, and I even gave a talk about Simply Static at WordCamp Europe in Athens in 2023.
We are constantly growing and evolving our plugin to make the transition to Static WordPress accessible for everyone.
The Team
Over the past four years, we have constantly expanded the team to deliver an outstanding product, excellent technical support, and a platform for educating people about Static WordPress.
Patrick Posner
Patrick is the founder and one of the developers behind Simply Static.
He is a jack-of-all-trades. He writes code, creates tutorials, manages our social media channels, and creates videos on YouTube.
He tries to stay human besides spending much time in IDEs and the command line.
Igor Benić
Igor is the second developer on the Simply Static team.
He is behind the most exciting new features and integrations in Simply Static and Simply Static Pro.
He is also responsible for improving Simply Static’s overall code quality and ensuring we adhere to the latest PHP, WordPress, and JavaScript standards.
If he’s not developing our plugin, he works on side projects and publishing code tutorials at ibenic.com.
Scott Ross
Scott is handling our support and is usually your first contact with us.
The challenge with a technical product like Simply Static is that you need deep technical knowledge to deliver excellent support
Scott combines both a friendly attitude and deep technical knowledge.
If he’s not working on solving your problems, he spends his time traveling through the United States and enjoying the fine weather.
Gina Lucia
Gina is our head of content marketing at Simply Static and has years of writing experience in the WordPress and WooCommerce space.
She ensures that the content we publish is easy to understand for various skill levels, from beginner to advanced.
She also handles all the copy related to our website, from landing pages to tutorials and comparison pages. Gina handles all of it.
Sheldon
Sheldon is the happiness manager of the team.
His main job? Ensuring our founder gets enough time outside the office by demanding frequent dog walks.
He also ensures we stay profitable to ensure a healthy food supply.
If he’s not in the office he enjoys extended walks and frequent power naps next to the founder.

This is a great addition, as it allows a site to be hosted in S3/Cloudfront and prevents WordPress attacks.

Publishing a Jamstack site from WordPress gives the best of both worlds—flexible content creation with a serverless website (we publish to S3).

WordPress is very useful but too insecure, unreliable, and slow to be used by critical sites without a solution like this. This way, we get the benefits of WordPress without the downsides.

As an agency, we work with many customers who come to us with either existing WordPress sites or new sites that are perfect candidates for static sites. Supporting static sites is a lighter lift on the agency site, and the customer wins on better security and typically better performance […].

Static sites have many benefits. The pro version has a good feature for a solid implementation. I’ve encountered a few edge cases, and their support has been prompt and professional.
