About Us

From an abandoned plugin to over 50,000 users, a team of four people and
hundreds of updates over the last four years.

The Story of Simply Static

Five years ago, I used the plugin to ensure the website of one of my customers could handle the traffic from a TV commercial (back then, I was still working part-time as a freelancer).

The plugin was unmaintained then, and so was the entire concept of Static WordPress. Most competitors (mostly cloud solutions) are barely active anymore, and all the alternative plugins were also abandoned.

After my customer’s successful campaign, I reached out to the initial developer and asked him to take over the plugin and resume maintenance. He agreed, and all the code was transferred to my account, and our journey began.

Fast-forward five years, and Simply Static powers over 50,000 websites, from tiny blogs to huge enterprise websites. It has become the de facto standard for Static WordPress.

Our team comprises four lovely people who handle development, support, and content marketing. We have attended multiple WordCamps, and I even gave a talk about Simply Static at WordCamp Europe in Athens in 2023.

We are constantly growing and evolving our plugin to make the transition to Static WordPress accessible for everyone.

We also talk publicly about that on Podcasts, WordCamps, and other occasions. Read about our latest media coverage here.
